I moved to Mammoth Lakes when I was 17. It was to be a semester break between high school graduation and college. My first winter I skied 147 days in a row. The rest , as they say, is history. The next winter I was hired as a children's ski instructor. I studied for and passed my Level II certification exam. Two winters later, now teaching adults, I passed my Level III full certification exam. I was the only women on the Mammoth Mountain 10 person demonstration team. Our duties were to clinic and train other instructors and to demonstrate skiing skills to visiting ski school directors. In 1980 I moved to Bend, Oregon and was a race coach and NASTAR forerunner at Mt. Bachelor Ski Area.

Coming back to Mammoth Mtn. in 1983-84 I teach all levels and ages of students and continue to train instructors. I was honored in 1995 to be chosen for SKIING MAGAZINES first Top 100 ski instructors of America's list.

In 1996 1 was also privileged to be a two time guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show discussing winter and summer sports and outdoor life. I began working for the U.S. Forest Service in the summer times, first as a wildland fire fighter where I met my husband. Now I am a recreation specialist. My duties include mountain bike and OHV management. I have two growing children and a new golden retriever puppy. I enjoy all outdoor recreation and am becoming proficient at snow boarding.
